Biljana Maric has over nineteen years’ experience in compensation law having worked in the legal industry whilst completing her formal legal studies. Biljana was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 2011.
Biljana commenced her career acting for plaintiffs and subsequently advising defendant insurers. As a result, Biljana understands the approach of all parties to claims and is able to progress matters applying the principles of fairness as well as the need for commercial outcomes.
During her career, Biljana has conducted matters concerning claims and advising injured people in many and varied industries including transport, health, education, emergency services and has successfully resolved cases in District Court and the Workers Compensation Commission. Biljana also has experience in the area of total and permanent disability, income protection and death benefit claims and understands people’s rights and entitlements under superannuation scheme.
Biljana is an accomplished presenter having developed and delivered information and training sessions on the constantly changing Workers’ Compensation Act 1987 (NSW) and Workplace Injury Management and Workers’ Compensation Act 1998 (NSW).
Biljana is proficient in translating and interpreting in the Serbian, Croatian and Macedonian languages. Biljana is able to assist in progressing claims when these services are required.
Whilst completing her studies, Biljana also gained experience in the criminal law and family law jurisdictions.
