Maria has worked exclusively in compensation law for over 10 years, working for two other national firms before joining the team at Kingsley Lawson Lawyers.
Maria has extensive experience in compensation law, involving complex liability and quantum issues, particularly in medical law. Maria has represented adults and children in a variety of complex medical negligence cases. These cases range from cases for mothers who have suffered injuries during child birth, babies who have been catastrophically injured due to negligent medical care at the time of their birth, through to cases involving delays in diagnosis and injuries caused by mistakes made during operative procedures.
Maria also has extensive experience in public liability, workers compensation and professional negligence claims. Maria possesses all the necessary skills and experience in litigation and negotiation to advance her client’s best interests. Maria is inspired by being able to help her clients navigate the law and seeing the change compensation can bring to their lives. She is passionate about helping her clients understand their rights and is able to determine the most appropriate course of action to achieve the most desirable outcomes for her clients. This includes preparation of a case for settlement out of court or taking a case through the court system to ensure that a fair outcome is achieved.
Maria has substantial experience in managing claims at the highest level, including Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the High Court of Australia. One particular case determined by the High Court, set a precedent in compensation law. Maria is fluent in Spanish.
